About Houn-ji
Hounji (Phoenix cloud Temple) is an online cyber temple dedicated to my teacher and Dharma master Houn Kobun Otagawa Zenji. I am Meiho Angus MacDonald. I studied with Kobun Zenji for twenty four years at Hokoji temple in Taos, NM and at Jikoji Temple in California. I received ordination from Kobun in 1986. I received my Shusho ceremony in 1989 and completed one year of practice teaching. I received Dharma transmission from Kobun Zenji in 1991 and was named Abbott of Jiko-Ji Temple in California by Him that same year, a position which I held only for a short time due to internal Temple politics.
The function of this web site is to present Dharma dialogs in the Soto tradition by Houn Kobun Zenji, Kigen Dogen Zenji, The Venerable Bodidharma, Rev. Meiho Angus MacDonald, Rev. Vincent Keisen Vuillemin and others. We hope these talks will be of some benefit to those who read them.
